How to survive your 20’s Noor Sheikh Review By: Inarat Fatima

How to survive your 20’s is a self-help book written by Pakistani author Noor Sheikh. The entire book revolves around an adults guide to youngsters entering their twenties. If you begin to read this book, you will feel like the author as an adult is sitting beside you and guiding you through life changes and decisions, which you are going through. 20’s is a really difficult age a time of chaos as you are going through major changes both physically and emotionally at a time.

A great time of confusion for young minds and there are greater chances to get lost in self-doubt and feeling abandoned. Keeping in mind the time of 20’s author has described life events through which youngsters can relate and feel understood by an adult.

The book is very less like any traditional self-help book and more like a person reflecting back on her life and guiding us all youngsters a path with less pain and miseries. In the book we can see Ms Sheikh guiding us to stop self-pitting and living a life of isolation in which most of us begin self-blaming instead she is showing us a path a path on which there is more expression of one’s true self, she is helping young minds to accept the changing around them and to adapt them.

I liked most the way author has depicted her life events throughout the book in order to make us all perceive quite simply instead of using references from tales we have never heard about. The way the lesson hidden inside relates to every chapters story was the key, which strengthen the drive in me to turn the pages and read. Most of all the way book is divided into appropriate chapters makes it quite smooth to read. The only thing I did not appreciated much was use of little tougher vocabulary, which is fine in a sense, but for me it was a turn off. Moreover, I wish it were not that short because I was having such a quality time reading it.

A quick read in which author provides an insight of young minds.  I am so glad that I could read this masterpiece of guidance while I am starting my twenties.  The humor she adds in a self-help book makes it quite a good read.

The book I would say is a gem and everyone should at least read it once. Language is understandable. I Finished the book in one sitting as it is cute little book. I am quite glad that I came across this book. A very splendid effort by adequate author.

Finally, I will recommend this book to youngsters and young adults. It is necessary read for you all.
